Dr Cheryl Rezek is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the field of mental health for many years. She combined clinical and academic work, whilst working in mental health organisations and universities, prior to moving into independent practice. She has worked with children, families and adults in a variety of settings as a clinician, supervisor and lecturer and she has developed treatment programmes and headed services. She has extensive experience in general mental health, including anxiety, depression, trauma and addictions as well as being involved in a hospice organisation and working with the public.
She has published a bestselling book written specifically for the public combining psychological concepts and mindfulness work as a means of managing everyday life as well as symptoms associated with physical illness and emotional distress www.lifehappens-mindfulness.com. Her aim is to make this work straightforward and easily accessible to a general audience and to create a sense of curiosity in people about themselves and their lives.
Life happens – it’s what you do with it that counts. Experiences can sometimes be difficult or confusing, whether created by a current situation or by something from earlier times that continues to interfere with your wellbeing.
Consulting a clinical psychologist for a one-off opinion or for ongoing therapy is about two people coming together to help take care of your life. Our trainings and level of experience are extensive and highly regulated and it is this specialist knowledge and expertise that we bring into our work and pass on to you.
Anyone can see a psychologist for a relevant difficulty or stressor and any aspect of your life can be discussed no matter what it is (such as distress, anxiety, depression, stress abuse, substance misuse, parenting input, impotence, relationship concerns, confusion, work matters, bereavement or loss, personality issues or mental health difficulties). The important issue is that therapy is an investment in your life whether you are a man or a woman.
