Congratulations to all our patients that have been having treatment in the last few weeks in the build up to the London Marathon. From Sports Massage, Podiatry, pedicures, reflexology, nutrition and Osteopathy. Here at Bodyworks were were able to provide the people of Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards cross and the surrounding areas of South Bucks with the most optimal care that is required to be fully/or fighting fit for the great challenges that marathon training and running the marathon can throw up.
There were a few last minute sessions to loosen up tight spots and Kinesio Tape vulnerable areas to great effect.
Now this week, it's all about post event aftercare, with gentle stretching massaging, ultrasound, kinesio-taping, Osteopathic adjustments and foot care. If your going to put the body through it- you must get the proper support and care throughout, otherwise the chances of developing problems and damaging joints and tendons are high.

Following a recent meeting with surgeons, physiotherapists and Osteopaths in London, it was highlighted that the use of MRI and ultrasound should be more widely used and more available to the public as they can provide key diagnostic criteria for treatment protocols.
One point of key note was the current trend towards using dry needling (modern acupuncture) and plasma rich platelet injections for lateral epicondylitis (tennis Elbow) and other inflammatory tendon complaints than a steroid injection.
Our Osteopaths liase with all other medical professionals to provide patients with the best care possible. We also use dry needling as part of our Osteopathic care.

Spotted a stress fracture on a lady who was told she sprained her ankle 4 weeks ago by her GP. So no Osteopathic treatment yet for her, but she was very pleased I picked it up. Osteopaths are very good at examining and diagnosing musculo-skeletal conditions and treating accordingly! It's not all just backs!
