BODYWORKS PODIATRY
BODYWORKS What is Podiatry?
Podiatry is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and other disorders of the feet. Podiatry aims to improve the mobility, independence and quality of life for people by providing preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of problems affecting the feet, ankles and lower limb.
The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists recommends annual foot checks for all members of the family. Podiatrists are skilled in screening and health education, so a visit to the podiatrist need not always be about sore feet. Most people will have troublesome feet at some point in their lives.
“When our feet hurt, we hurt all over” by the ancient Greek Philosopher Socrates

Foot Care Factsand Tips
- The temperature inside a child’s shoe can reach 120 degrees!
- Wash feet daily in warm soapy water and dry them thoroughly. It is important to dry between the toes.
- Around 70% of foot problems come from wearing the wrong footwear or ill-fitting shoes.
- Trim toenails straight across – do not round the nail off.
- The average person walks about 10,000 steps a day.
- One quarter of the bones in the human body are found in your feet. When these bones are out of alignment, so is the rest of the body.
If your feet are troublesome, please seek advice from your doctor or an HPC registered Podiatrist.
